State Board Cases
We handle matters before all state Boards/Bureaus/Agencies as listed above and in the pre-Accusation, or investigatory stage, as well. This is probably the most important time to retain counsel because a client needs to immediately insulate himself/herself from the agency’s tremendous investigative powers and not damage the case by speaking to investigators, etc. This is where Brown & Brown comes in—we immediately handle all communications on your behalf and speak to investigators and others for you. Most of our clients feel immediately at ease knowing they will not have to face the vast investigative forces of the Boards alone.
It’s what you DON’T say that matters so much in these matters.
With over 60 years in the business, Donald B. Brown, our founding partner, has tried cases before almost every Board in the state and has learned the ins and outs of achieving winning results for his clients. This wealth of experience and knowhow has been passed down to his son, Adam, who now absolutely loves trying cases before all state boards and has achieved exceptional results in doing so.
Our goal, however, is to try to minimize the time, expense and stress on the client of proceeding to trial by reaching the most advantageous settlement possible. If settlement is not possible, our firm aggressively protects our clients at trial using proven skills and strategies learned over 60 years of successful law practice.
License Application Rejections/Statements of Issues
We also handle matters involving all stages of the license application process and the rejection of an application resulting in the filing of a “Statement of Issues” by the Board.
A rejected application doesn’t have to be the end of your dream of becoming licensed—let Brown & Brown help you get there. We’ve done it countless times and can help you. Previous convictions or other problems can be dealt with by the highly skilled attorneys at Brown & Brown.
Personal Injury/Criminal Defense
Adam B. Brown also handles serious personal injury matters and criminal defense cases. Often times, our clients will first call us after being arrested, wondering how that arrest (and possible conviction) will affect their license. We often provide criminal defense services at this time with a view toward minimizing harm to the administrative/Board case that is often filed later.
A large number of referrals come to us from criminal defense attorneys who have handled the client’s criminal case, but don’t practice administrative law. We pride ourselves on working closely with criminal defense lawyers to minimize any future impact on our client’s license.
